Thank-you for your interest in San Diego Mediation Centers
(SDMC) Parent/Teen program.
San Diego Mediation Center has been offering mediation services
to the communities of San Diego since 1983. We began as a community
based organization-helping neighbors resolve their conflicts through
mediation. We have grown substantiality and have expanded our services
to include the entire County of San Diego.
While we have expanded our services to include mediation in such
diverse fields as real estate, employment, probate, divorce, parent/teen
and many others. We have always lead the way in alternative dispute
resolution(ADR), helping neighbors, families, and businesses co-exist
and deal with the day-to-day conflicts, which are inevitable.
While conflict is inevitable, the ways in which we handle it are
diverse. Recognizing that no relationship is more important than
the one between parents and teens, the Parent/Teen program is completing
its fifth successful year. Some chronic conflicts between parents
and their teens may include: school, attendance, dating, divorce
or families may face more serious issues like teen pregnancy, run-away
situations, or situations that are escalating out of control. SDMCs
Parent/Teen program is a good first step to getting families talking
and working together. Teens are receptive to mediation because it
doesnt have the stigma of counseling or therapy.
The Parent/Teen program works with various social service agencies
as well as the Police Department, Juvenile Court, school counselors
and community-based organizations. Parent/Teen Mediation is a proven
means of providing short-term, focused procedure to address chronic
family disagreements before they escalate into destructive behaviors
that can damage relationships. Mediations are usually completed
in 2 or 3 sessions.
The cost for the program is $150.00, and allows up to 3 mediation
sessions. The program fee can be adjusted on a sliding scale for
those who qualify. No one is denied this service if they are unable
to pay.
